Ride to Regulate Bikes Arrive at Westville Elementary
Westville Elementary students now have an exciting new way to support their focus, self-regulation, and overall wellness with the arrival of the Ride to Regulate bikes. This innovative initiative, funded through a grant from the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte, brings eight Classroom Cruiser self-regulation bikes to the school.
The Ride to Regulate program is designed to help students channel their energy in a positive way, improve attention in the classroom, and build healthy habits. The bikes, which feature an attached workspace for reading or writing, allow students to move while continuing to learn.
“Our goal is to provide students with tools that support both their academic success and their emotional well-being,” said Sarah Zaiko, Dean of Students at Westville Elementary. “These bikes give students the chance to self-regulate in a fun and constructive way, which can help them return to class ready to focus and succeed.” Mrs. Zaiko can’t wait for the students of Westville Elementary to use the bikes when they return to school.
The bikes are housed in a dedicated space where students can ride while completing assignments, reading, or simply taking a movement break to reset and recharge.
Westville Elementary would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte for making this project possible. This support is helping students grow not only academically, but also physically and emotionally, as the school continues to promote the importance of healthy bodies and active learning.
